Mission Trip 2017 - Day 2 (Bijeljina, Republika Srpska)

BIJELJINA, REPUBLIC OF SERBIA - Today the mission travelers completed their journey to Bijelina in the Republic of Serbia (Republika Srpska) and are back in Belgrade for the evening.  Bijeljina is located in northeastern Republika Srpska, about four miles from the Serbian border.  It is the second largest city in Republika Srpska, behind only Banja Luka.  Today's visit marks the first time that the Lifeline mission has extended outside of Serbia.

The first stop was the Lara Foundation Daily Women's Center.  Founded in 1998, the organization works against human trafficking and supports the victims through a women's center and safe house.  It also provides legal aid for victims of trafficking and abuse. Please take a moment to read Aleksandra Dimitrijevic's reflection on her visit to this facility.

The second and third stops were at two small schools in need of humanitarian aid.  The final stop before returning to Belgrade was the Sv Petka, a Serbian orthodox convent and monastery located just outside of Bijeljina.

We will update this post as we receive new photos and recollections from our travelers.  We've added two new videos today from yesterday's visit to the Plavi Cuperak Elementary School visit.  We hope that you enjoy watching them as much as we did.

Stay tuned for Day 3!  Please share this post to your Facebook page using the sharing links below.
